Role Description

In this role, you will be a part of a Clinical Abstraction team. You will be responsible for:

• Responding to Abstractor questions
• Investigating and resolving discrepancies in abstraction and data curation processes
• Providing feedback to abstractors about their performance in abstracted tasks
• Abstracting complex clinical insights from electronic medical records using proprietary software
• Supporting feasibility and initial testing of novel data points or new abstraction approaches
• Piloting new Patient Manager tools or features and providing feedback
• Obtaining and maintaining credentials for abstraction and quality assurance activities
• Contributing to the evolution of team processes
• Participating in regular team teleconferences and other meetings as required
• Working a 40 hour/week schedule (within flexible work hours guidelines) and submitting timesheets regularly

Abstraction Specialists will have further opportunities to work with cross-functional teams including Abstraction Training, Clinical Quality, Clinical Data, and Research Oncology, and will gain access to mentorship and other professional development programs available to Flatiron employees.

Qualifications

• Current Flatiron Health employee with at least 12 months of experience working as an abstractor
• Strong abstractor skills with consistent abstraction quality and efficiency
• Oncology data specialist, registered nurse, physician assistant, or equivalent with significant hands-on experience in oncology (5+ years)
• Familiarity with all aspects of cancer treatment, from diagnosis to recovery
• Fluency in cancer terminology
• High comfort level with technology and familiarity with EMR systems
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Experience with data entry, including strong typing skills (preferred)
