Role Description

The Director is accountable for driving operational performance within a defined function or workflow segment of the denials lifecycle, owning execution, throughput, cycle time, and quality outcomes at the functional level. This role ensures work is executed efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with end-to-end business objectives.

Operating at the intersection of strategy and execution, the Director translates strategic priorities into consistent, day-to-day performance. This role partners cross-functionally to optimize workflows, resolve operational challenges in real time, and deliver measurable results aligned to business unit goals.

Impact you will make

  • Deliver consistent, measurable improvements in throughput, cycle time, and quality within assigned function or workflow segment
  • Ensure work is executed with clear ownership, accountability, and adherence to defined processes and standards
  • Identify and resolve operational inefficiencies, enabling faster, more effective workflow execution
  • Strengthen alignment across teams by partnering cross-functionally to ensure seamless handoffs and coordination
  • Drive adoption of new processes, tools, and workflows to support operational consistency and scalability
  • Contribute to overall business unit performance by ensuring predictable, improving results at the functional level
  • Ensure alignment between functional execution and end-to-end workflow outcomes, supporting seamless progression of work across the lifecycle
  • Proactively identify and address breakdowns in workflow, ownership, or system design that impact performance

What you will do

  • Own and drive performance against key operational KPIs, including throughput, cycle time, quality, and productivity
  • Own and optimize day-to-day workflow execution within assigned function or segment
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve blockers, bottlenecks, and performance gaps impacting execution
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Product, Finance, and Client Success to support effective workflow execution and issue resolution
  • Lead and support the implementation of process improvements, workflow changes, and operational initiatives
  • Monitor performance trends and leverage data to prioritize actions and drive continuous improvement
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, payer guidelines, and quality expectations
  • Drive accountability across teams, reinforcing clear expectations and consistent performance management
  • Coach, develop, and support Managers and/or frontline leaders to ensure strong team performance and engagement
  • Drive adoption and effective use of tools, automation, and system-driven workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
  • Ensure work is routed, prioritized, and executed in alignment with defined workflow logic and business priorities
  • Make informed, real-time decisions to address performance gaps, rebalance work, and maintain throughput

Qualifications

  • Strong operational leadership capability with a focus on execution, performance management, and results delivery
  • Proven ability to manage and improve workflow performance within a defined function or operational segment
  • Solid understanding of revenue cycle management and denial management processes, including payer dynamics and performance drivers
  • Ability to leverage data and KPIs to monitor performance, identify issues, and drive improvements
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions
  • Experience working cross-functionally to resolve issues and improve workflow execution
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive accountability, engagement, and performance
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to adapt to change and support the implementation of new processes, tools, and workflows
  • Ability to connect functional performance to broader business outcomes, including throughput, cycle time, and revenue impact
  • Experience working within or adapting to tech-enabled, workflow-driven operating models

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • 7-10+ years of experience in Revenue Cycle Management, with exposure to denial management or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Experience leading teams in a metrics-driven, performance-focused environment
  • Experience managing work queues, workflows, and operational KPIs
  • Familiarity with payer guidelines, denial trends, and revenue cycle performance metrics
  • Experience supporting process improvement or operational initiatives
  • Experience working with practice management systems, EHRs, or payer portals
