Role Description
As Technical SEO Lead, you'll be the technical SEO expert across a portfolio of higher education partner accounts. Your work improves their visibility in traditional search, answer engines, and generative AI search.
The role has two sides:
-
Technical SEO: find issues affecting rankings and traffic, write specs for developers, and ensure fixes are live.
-
Building Claude-based tools and workflows to reduce manual work in audits, reporting, QA, and content production.
You'll work alongside the SEO Lead and support the Executive Director of SEO.
You'll:
-
Lead technical SEO across client accounts.
-
Run technical audits covering:
-
Crawlability
-
Indexation
-
Site architecture
-
Internal linking
-
Core Web Vitals
-
Structured data
-
Redirects
-
Broken links
-
Prioritize issues by impact and effort, and defend those calls.
-
Write dev-ready specs for web developers and client teams, then follow through until fixes are released and verified.
-
Handle light WordPress implementation: titles, meta descriptions, plugin-level redirects, and schema through tools like Yoast or Rank Math.
-
Monitor Google Search Console and GA4 to catch drops, errors, and indexing problems before clients do.
-
Own technical readiness for AI search (AEO/GEO): crawler access, structured data, entity optimization, and content structure that LLM-driven search can parse and cite.
-
Build the systems that scale the SEO service.
-
Design and build Claude-based tools, agents, and workflows for:
-
Technical audits
-
Issue prioritization
-
Reporting
-
QA
-
Build content production systems that convert briefs, client rules, and optimization targets into near-publish-ready drafts.
-
Translate team standards into reusable systems the whole team can run.
-
Connect Search Console, GA4, crawl exports, and Ahrefs/Semrush into workflows that surface what needs attention.
-
Document each system, train the team on it, and measure whether it saves time or improves results, retiring the ones that don't.
-
Support the team and client success.
-
Act as the team's go-to resource on technical questions.
-
Join client calls when a deep technical topic needs expert explanation.
-
Evaluate emerging search technologies and recommend new tools, processes, and workflows.
Qualifications
-
5+ years in SEO, with at least 3 focused on technical SEO, ideally at an agency or across multiple sites.

A track record of uncovering high-impact issues on a site, prioritizing them, and getting them fixed.

-
Strong working knowledge of WordPress: themes, plugins, redirects, and schema.

Advanced, hands-on experience with Claude, including building agents and AI-assisted workflows.
