Role Description
We are hiring a highly experienced SEO Lead with deep, hands-on experience in home-services and service-based industries to lead and scale SEO delivery across a portfolio of US-based clients. This role is critical to performance and is not suitable for candidates without direct experience in home-services SEO (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, remodeling, roofing, junk removal, cleaning, painting).
You will own strategy and execution across local SEO, Google Business Profile (GBP), service-area businesses (SABs), competitive metro markets, and multi-location/franchise environments. This is a hands-on role focused on rankings, map pack visibility, calls, and booked jobs—not theory or generic SEO.
You’ll work closely with content, development, paid media/LSA teams, and account strategy to execute clear SEO plans and deliver measurable organic growth for service-based businesses.
Key Responsibilities

Own SEO strategy and execution for a portfolio of home-services clients (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, remodeling, junk removal, painting, cleaning, etc.)

Build and maintain SEO roadmaps covering technical SEO, local visibility, content, GBP optimization, and link acquisition

Lead scalable SEO processes, templates, QA checks, and reporting standards across accounts

Stay current on Google algorithm updates, local SEO changes, AI-influenced search behavior, and E-E-A-T considerations specific to service businesses

Clearly prioritize actions that drive map pack rankings, organic leads, and phone calls

Drive consistent GBP ranking improvements across primary and surrounding service areas

Optimize categories, services, attributes, service areas, photos/videos, citations, and trust signals

Conduct city-level and service-level keyword research for local expansion

Support sustained map pack visibility in highly competitive metro markets

Manage and improve local SERP performance for service-area businesses without storefronts

Build content strategies for service pages, city/location pages, blogs, and topical authority clusters

Create SEO briefs aligned with local intent, conversion goals, and service-based search behavior

Review content for SEO quality, local relevance, and lead-generation effectiveness

Collaborate with internal and external writers (human and AI-assisted) while maintaining strict quality standards

Coordinate link acquisition efforts (citations, outreach, partnerships, placements) suited to home-services verticals

Maintain simple, scalable backlink playbooks that support local authority and trust

Monitor backlink gaps, authority metrics, and competitive benchmarks

Run technical audits covering crawlability, indexation, internal linking, duplication, schema basics, and Core Web Vitals

Work directly with WordPress and development resources to implement SEO improvements

Support scalable multi-location site structures and internal linking strategies common in home-services businesses

Track performance using GA4, GSC, and SEO tools with a focus on leads, calls, and local visibility

Collaborate with paid media and LSA teams to align messaging and growth priorities
-
Communicate SEO priorities clearly to internal stakeholders and support consistent execution
Qualifications

3–5+ years of hands-on SEO experience with direct, proven experience in home-services or service-based industries

Demonstrated success improving local SEO and Google Business Profile rankings for service-area businesses

Experience competing in highly competitive local markets (map pack + organic results)

Strong familiarity with multi-location and franchise-style SEO structures

Solid technical SEO foundation (audits, indexation, internal linking, CWV awareness, basic schema)
-
Strong proficiency with WordPress, including on-page optimization and common technical fixes

Ability to produce clear SEO documentation, briefs, roadmaps, and performance reporting

Excellent organization and time management across multiple active client campaigns
-
Prior professional remote work experience, fluency with remote collaboration tools (Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, Asana or similar), and experience supporting US- or UK-based teams/clients
Preferred Qualifications

Deep experience in one or more home-services verticals (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, cleaning, junk removal, remodeling)

Experience with home-services CRMs and marketing stacks (ServiceTitan, Jobber, Workiz, Housecall Pro, or similar)

Experience collaborating with paid media and Google Local Services Ads (LSA) teams

Experience implementing and validating structured data/schema

Experience mentoring junior SEO specialists or coordinating contractors/vendors
