Role Description

To help drive ActiveState’s next stage of growth of our SaaS platform, we are seeking a passionate Product Marketing Manager to join our team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between product development and market success, ensuring our solutions resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences. You will own the go-to-market strategy, develop compelling product positioning, and drive adoption through targeted campaigns and content.

This role will work closely with Open Source Organizations such as the Open Source Program Office (OSPO) to align product messaging with our open-source values and community goals. You will drive thought leadership and shape our company’s point of view in the open-source space, contributing to our reputation as an industry leader.

Reporting to the CMO, you will focus on one-to-many communication strategies, ensuring that our messaging scales effectively across various channels. You’ll leverage your knowledge of marketing funnels to nurture leads and guide them through the customer journey, with a focus on evangelizing the need for Open Source Security across the Enterprise landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Go-to-Market Strategy: Plan and execute go-to-market strategies for new product launches and feature updates, ensuring successful adoption.
  • Positioning & Messaging: Develop clear and compelling product positioning and messaging that resonates with target audiences, including developers, IT professionals, and business leaders.
  • Driving Opinion and Thought Leadership: Shape and communicate the company’s point of view on key industry topics, positioning us as a leader in the open-source and SaaS communities.
  • Content Development: Create high-impact marketing materials such as product briefs, case studies, whitepapers, webinars, and blog posts to support sales and drive demand.
  • Market Research: Conduct market analysis, including competitive research and customer insights, to inform product strategy and positioning.
  • Sales Enablement: Provide sales teams with the tools, training, and content they need to effectively communicate product value to prospects and customers.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with the OSPO and the open-source community to drive awareness, gather feedback, and strengthen brand loyalty.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, using data to optimize and refine strategies.
  • Marketing Funnels: Develop and manage marketing funnel strategies to guide potential users and customers from awareness to conversion.
  • Collaboration: Partner with product management, engineering, and customer success teams to ensure alignment across all product initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in product marketing, preferably within a SaaS or open-source environment.
  • Understanding of SecOps and DevSecOps and the challenges faced by Enterprise organizations in adopting Open Source.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and marketing technical products.
  • Strong understanding of open-source business models, OSPO functions, and SaaS ecosystems.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging content.
  • Proficiency in marketing tools such as HubSpot, Google Analytics, and project management platforms.
  • Experience with marketing funnels, content creation, campaign management, and performance analytics.
  • Familiarity with developer tools, APIs, or cloud technologies is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and project management abilities.

Benefits

  • Working for a stable and growing company that offers the positive aspects and personal growth potential of a start-up.
  • Ownership of a mission-critical area of the business and exposure to multiple systems, team leads and key revenue outcomes.
  • The chance to work with a smart, passionate team of people.
  • Competitive salary and bonus.
