Role Description
This role involves leading trade compliance for Thermal Ceramics globally. You will be part advisor, part problem-solver, and part βthe person everyone calls when things get tricky.β Your responsibilities will include:

Ensuring the business moves quickly while staying compliant with export controls, sanctions, and customs rules

Shaping policies and influencing senior leaders

Working with global regulators

Resolving customs queries and untangling licensing issues
Responsibilities

Lead and embed trade compliance and sanctions requirements across Thermal Ceramics

Run strategic initiatives to improve, automate, and modernize compliance processes
-
Advise on compliance implications for M&A, new markets, and new products

Manage day-to-day export/import operations escalated from the business

Partner with regulators (ECJU, BAFA, customs bodies) to resolve issues and keep things moving

Oversee classification, jurisdiction checks, licensing, and documentation accuracy

Investigate compliance deviations and drive corrective actions

Manage denied-party screening, anti-boycott compliance, and valuation processes

Deliver practical support to operational teams when shipments or authorizations get messy

Lead training on export controls, sanctions, and controlled goods handling

Monitor regulatory changes and act quickly to keep the business compliant
Qualifications

10β15 years in trade compliance, with at least 5 leading global or multi-region compliance efforts

Strong working knowledge of UK export controls, EU dual-use/military regimes, ITAR/EAR, and trade agreements

Comfortable managing both big-picture strategy and hands-on tactical work

Solid experience with ERP systems and compliance tools

Able to influence senior stakeholders without needing a 40-slide deck

Analytical, pragmatic, and calm when things get complex

Strong communicator; English required, extra EU languages welcome

Happy with occasional travel (around 20%)
Nice to Have

Experience in manufacturing, materials, aerospace, or related sectors

Familiarity with AEO or similar certification schemes
