Job Summary: Responsible for leading and managing a team of attorneys representing clients in all levels of insurance defense litigation to ensure competent, ethical, efficient, and diligent representation of clients in all assigned cases. Collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders to drive business outcomes.
Essential Job Functions

Responsible for managing the overall performance of the assigned team to ensure competent, ethical, and diligent representation of insurance defense clients.

Oversees legal file handling by assigned attorneys; ensuring adherence to Department policies, practices, and procedures including timely and effective communications with clients and claims.

Assists with the achievement of office goals; collaborates with support leadership; utilizes a formal quality assurance program to drive high-quality file handling for our clients.

Proactively works with leadership and stakeholders on staffing recommendations, hiring, onboarding, team building, training, development, engagement, retention, and succession planning.

Leads a high-performing team with a culture of trust, collaboration, and transparency.

Promotes achievement of office goals and continuous improvement through performance management to optimize individual and organizational performance.

May handle assigned insurance defense matters that are primarily moderate to high complexity and/or exposure in all relevant courts.

Fosters collaboration and partnerships, encourages diversity of thought, and communicates with internal and external stakeholders to achieve client, department, and company goals.

Uses analytics, metrics, and financial analysis to help develop and drive strategies.

Communicates regularly about changes to goals, strategies, policies, procedures, and everyday work to effectively lead assigned team through all changes.

Engages in discussions with claims executives on legal aspects of high complexity/exposure cases and litigation strategies.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Licensed to practice law in applicable states required upon hire.
Requirements
-
6 years as a licensed, practicing attorney and a member in good standing with the State Bar in the state(s) in which position is located and will practice required.

Experience handling and trying cases of high exposure and/or complexity preferred.

Multi-state jurisdictional practices and leadership experience or demonstrated leadership aptitude or comparable experience preferred.
