Role Description
Reporting to the General Counsel, the Senior Counsel will be a key member of Elite’s Legal team, supporting Elite’s commercial, product, compliance, privacy, and corporate legal needs. The Senior Counsel will draft and negotiate a broad range of agreements, advise the business on commercial, product, privacy and compliance matters, and help the Legal team embrace AI and technology to work smarter and more efficiently.
Work Arrangement: Remote. This role requires the individual to be based in the United States, with flexibility across U.S. time zones.
Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer, vendor, partner, licensing, and SaaS agreements, as well as NDAs and other day-to-day contracts.

Collaborate with Elite’s business teams to standardize contract forms, templates, and playbooks and increase efficiency of deal execution and processes.

Assist with the management and implementation of Elite’s compliance program, policies, and procedures.

Advise the commercial and product teams on compliance and regulatory matters.

Advise the business on privacy and data security law, including staying current on applicable privacy and security laws, rules, regulations and industry standards.

Advise on legal and risk issues related to the development and use of artificial intelligence in Elite’s products and operations, including emerging AI laws and regulations, and help shape internal AI use policies.

Identify, evaluate, and champion AI and legal technology tools (such as contract lifecycle management and AI-assisted drafting and review) to improve the speed and quality of the Legal team’s work.

Support general corporate matters as needed, including corporate governance, and intellectual property.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and objectives of the department and Elite overall.
Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.

5-7 years of relevant experience practicing law, in-house and at a law firm, with a strong background in commercial contract drafting and negotiating, compliance and privacy.

Prior in-house experience within the SaaS or technology industry required (at least 3-4 years in-house, with prior experience at a law firm ideal).

AI curious: a genuine interest in artificial intelligence and a demonstrated willingness to experiment with generative AI tools to rethink how legal work gets done.

Technology savvy: comfortable learning and adopting new technology and legal tech platforms quickly, with an eye toward automation and process improvement.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

Sound judgment and a practical, business-minded approach to managing legal risk.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving business priorities.

Ability to travel up <10% as business needs require.
