[Hiring] Senior Counsel - Product @DailyPay

Role Description

The Senior Counsel, Product is a senior individual contributor responsible for providing strategic legal guidance across the full lifecycle of DailyPay’s products and services. Operating independently to resolve complex regulatory and commercial challenges, this role applies deep expertise in consumer financial services law and product-legal review. You will advise Product, Engineering, Design, and executive leaders on launching innovations that are compliant, scalable, and strengthen DailyPay’s competitive position and user trust.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Lifecycle Legal Review: Lead the comprehensive legal review of new product features, service enhancements, and AI-driven workflows from initial ideation through deployment and post-launch iteration.
• Product Legal Strategy: Define legal strategy for the product roadmap, ensuring feature launches align with DailyPay’s strategic vision, regulatory boundaries, and risk appetite.
• Regulatory Navigation: Serve as the subject matter expert on consumer financial protection, EFTA/Regulation E, TILA/Regulation Z, UDAAP, money transmission, and evolving state/federal Earned Wage Access (EWA) frameworks.
• UX/UI & Marketing Compliance: Partner with Design, Content, and Marketing teams to build compliant user journeys, transparent disclosures, and marketing/affiliate programs adhering to advertising standards.
• Risk Mitigation & Advisory: Resolve systemic product-legal challenges with creative solutions that balance commercial objectives against regulatory safety, serving as a trusted advisor to leadership.
• Partner & Sponsor Alignment: Direct legal alignment with sponsor banks, payment processors, and payment networks, ensuring platform features meet partner standards and network rules.
• Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Lead the drafting and negotiation of complex, high-stakes product agreements, core platform partnerships, and strategic integrations.
• Playbooks & Operational Process: Maintain and update product-legal playbooks, automated compliance templates, and review frameworks to apply the legal "Gold Standard" consistently.

Qualifications

• Legal Experience: 8+ years of legal experience, including top-tier law firm training and in-house fintech or highly regulated technology company experience.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of consumer financial services regulations (EFTA/Reg E, TILA/Reg Z, UDAAP), money transmission, and EWA regulatory frameworks.
• Product & Commercial Track Record: Proven background supporting payments/fintech product launches, affiliate marketing programs, and navigating complex commercial contracts in iterative environments.
• Strategic Problem Solving: Strong ability to navigate ambiguity, solve systemic challenges, and translate legal concepts into actionable advice for non-legal stakeholders.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Demonstrated success collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Design teams in fast-paced delivery models.
• Credentials & Integrity: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active Bar membership in good standing, upholding the highest standards of professional ethics.
