Role Description

Linear is seeking a Senior Counsel to serve as its first in-house legal hire and establish the company’s legal foundation as it continues to scale globally. This is a generalist role partnering closely with founders and leadership to support commercial, product, and operational legal needs across the business.

• Lead negotiations for enterprise SaaS agreements.
• Advise on product and AI-related legal considerations.
• Support corporate governance and equity matters.
• Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to address privacy, data handling, and compliance considerations as new features are developed.
• Build internal frameworks and manage outside counsel.
• Provide clear, practical guidance that enables teams to move quickly while understanding risk.
• Support employment and operational matters as the company expands across a global, remote-first workforce.

Qualifications

• Experience advising high-growth technology companies.
• Strength in commercial contracting, corporate matters, and product counseling.
• Comfortable operating independently and balancing pragmatism with sound judgment.
• Ability to embed legal thinking into a fast-moving, product-driven organization.
