Role Description

The Superior Court of California, County of Riverside is seeking a knowledgeable and service-driven Self-Help Attorney to assist individuals navigating the legal system without representation. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine your legal expertise, creativity, and commitment to public service by helping self-represented litigants understand Court procedures, access resources, and make informed decisions about their legal matters.

As a Self-Help Attorney, you'll help develop and administer the Court's Self-Help Program, with a focus on civil and probate matters. Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing legal information and procedural assistance.
• Conducting legal research.
• Developing educational resources that make complex legal processes easier to understand.
• Supporting Self-Help services throughout Riverside County, particularly in mid-county and desert locations.
• Creating workshops, presentations, and digital content.
• Collaborating with Court personnel and community partners.
• Providing guidance to staff and interns as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school.
• Four (4) years of experience, including a minimum of two (2) years of related experience in civil and/or probate law.
• A minimum of two (2) years providing legal services within a legal aid, public interest, and/or self-help services organization in California.
• Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
• Proficiency in Court forms software programs (preferred).
• Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).

Requirements

• Ability to travel between Court work locations when necessary to perform essential job functions.
• A valid California Driver License is required when operating a personal or Court vehicle for work-related travel.
