Role Description
The Patent Paralegal serves as an integral member of the Firm's Intellectual Property Group, providing comprehensive patent prosecution support to attorneys and patent agents handling U.S. and foreign patent matters. This position is intended for a mid-level patent paralegal with prior hands-on experience supporting patent prosecution matters and managing related correspondence and filings.
The role requires strong knowledge of U.S. patent prosecution procedures, familiarity with PCT and foreign filing practices, and the ability to coordinate timely preparation and submission of patent documents in collaboration with attorneys, inventors, clients, and foreign associates.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and discretion.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.

Mid-level experience: 3+ years of patent paralegal and/or patent prosecution support experience (law firm or in-house).

Demonstrated experience supporting U.S. patent filings and prosecution; experience with PCT and foreign patent filings strongly preferred.

Familiarity with USPTO filing systems (e.g., Patent Center) and common patent prosecution workflows.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams) and Adobe Pro.

Requirements

Assist attorneys and patent agents with day-to-day support of U.S. and foreign patent prosecution matters.

Prepare, draft, format, and file patent documents related to various stages of U.S., PCT, and foreign patent applications.

Coordinate with attorneys, inventors, clients, and foreign associates to gather signatures, approvals, and information needed to support timely preparation and filing of patent documents.

Communicate with attorneys, patent agents, clients, inventors, and foreign associates regarding application status and required actions.

Assist with preparation and filing of responses to USPTO communications and other patent office correspondence.

Organize and maintain electronic patent files and records.

Assist with billing support, including time entry and expense tracking, as required.

Provide general administrative and practice support to the Intellectual Property team.

Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Serve as a point of contact for internal staff, clients, and external vendors related to patent matters.

Work closely with attorneys, patent agents, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure smooth matter management.

Assist with overflow or specialized tasks as needed within the IP group.

Perform additional patent-related or administrative tasks as reasonably assigned and consistent with the needs of the Intellectual Property Group.
Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $65,000β$95,000, depending on qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
