[Hiring] Legal Assistant 1 @State of Washington

Role Description

The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full-time Legal Assistant 1 in the Consumer Protection Division. This position is located in Seattle, Washington, and is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).

The primary purpose of this position is to provide routine administrative legal support to the CP Division AAGs enforcing the Consumer Protection Act. Professional staff in the Consumer Protection Division are valued members of litigation teams, and their input is critical to case management and strategy.

If you enjoy helping people and being a part of a collaborative team environment, this position is for you! You will provide essential administrative support to division attorneys, management, and programs, including:

• Processing mail
• Overseeing the opening and closing of investigation and litigation case matters
• Processing invoices
• Preparing and reviewing various legal documents for proper formatting and compliance with court rules prior to filing

Qualifications

• Option 1: High School diploma or equivalent and two years of clerical experience including a minimum of one year of experience in a legal environment
• Option 2: Two years of legal office experience
• Option 3: A combination of three years of college education and/or relevant experience
• Option 4: A two-year degree in Legal Secretary Studies, Paralegal studies or related field of study
