Role Description
The Law Clerk will be an integral part of the Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) Legal team, providing direct support to the General Counsel. The Law Clerk will assist with legal projects on varied subjects, including:

Contracts

Corporate law
-
Bill review
-
Campaign finance
-
Lobbying & ethics
-
Employment law
-
Tax law
-
Intellectual property law
Research and writing will be required. The ideal candidate should be passionate about YALβs mission and dedicated to advancing freedom across the country.
Responsibilities include:

Research and writing for the General Counsel

Assistance with compliance matters
-
Review of tax, corporate, election, employment, and other areas of law as directed

Completing and filing various forms required by the federal and state governments

Preparation & review of legal documents, including contracts, leases, and other drafting as needed

Perform other tasks and special projects to assist the General Counsel as needed
Qualifications

Exceptional attention to detail

This position can be full or part time depending on the availability and other obligations for the law clerk. At a minimum, YAL requests at least 5-10 working hours per week if part time.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, occasionally under strict deadlines

Strong written communication & research skills

Willingness to learn and provide assistance as necessary

Experience in law school strongly preferred, but undergraduate applicants will be considered.
Requirements

The Volunteer Law Clerk position is available from approximately May 16, 2026 through August 15, 2026.

The Law Clerk will work remotely.

This Law Clerk role is a volunteer position with a not-for-profit organization.

No pay, wages, or other compensation or benefits will be offered, and the Law Clerk should have no expectation of compensation.

If the Law Clerk seeks academic credit for their volunteer work, YAL agrees to work with the Law Clerk to ensure applicable credit is obtained.
