Role Description
We are looking for a motivated AI Legal Specialist with a passion for all-things-tech & AI to join our Compliance Team. In this role, you’ll be owning legal and compliance-related workflows/projects, guided by and working side-by-side with our Ethics and Compliance Officer (ECO), Maxwelle Sokol.
This is a unique opportunity to develop your legal expertise at the frontier of AI and e-commerce regulation, and join a growing Compliance team at a leading, fast-moving AI companion platform.
Key Responsibilities

Owning compliance with worldwide laws applicable to AI, e-commerce platforms

Contracts and assessments required under data protection law, including the GDPR (DPAs, TIAs, etc.)

Preparing and maintaining required compliance documentation, e.g.:
-
Internal documentation under data protection, AI Governance, consumer rights, and similar laws
-
EverAI’s AI systems inventory (in line with EU guidance)
-
Risk assessments under applicable safety laws
-
Product & feature reviews (e.g., for consumer rights, data protection compliance)

Owning day-to-day compliance tasks:

Standard IP issues (e.g., DMCA notices, copycats)
-
Contract reviews (NDAs, licenses)
-
Legal terms updates (including TOS, Privacy Notices, and content policies)
-
Tracking, researching and analyzing relevant legal developments (e.g., the application of new laws or regulatory guidance to EverAI)

Guidance from & Regular Check-ins with our Ethics & Compliance Officer

Meeting with our ECO, a US lawyer by training, with 10+ years experience in litigation and in-house roles, on a regular basis to clarify questions, co-develop recommendations based on research, and share any relevant insights

Qualifications

Legal education (e.g., Masters of Law, Juris Doctor, recognized legal certification)

2-6 years of experience as legal counsel or similar positions:

At least 2 years of your experience must be working with contracts, generally, and data protection law, specifically.

You should know what a Data Protection Agreement and Transfer Impact Assessment are, and have some experience preparing them.

You should have experience contacting vendors about contract-related issues.

Ability to distill complex legal concepts into plain English
