Role Description

Armstrong Teasdale LLP is seeking an experienced IP Associate with patent preparation and prosecution expertise to join its Intellectual Property Group. The ideal candidate will possess patent preparation and prosecution experience in:

• Electrical Engineering
• Computer Engineering
• Computer Science
• Related technical field

The candidate will assist with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, patentability and clearance opinions, patent portfolio management, licensing, and enforcement of patents for a diverse clientele. Associates have an exciting opportunity to learn from and work closely with energetic, highly experienced patent practitioners in a friendly, cooperative environment.

Essential Functions:

• Simultaneously handles the high-level and strategic aspects of multiple legal matters at different stages of progression, from inception to conclusion.
• Possesses strong attention to detail and good interpersonal skills for communicating with attorneys and clients.
• Demonstrates an ability to work independently and productively and shows a strong interest in advancing a career in Intellectual Property law.
• Produces quality legal work and bills the required amounts of hours to ensure excellent client services.
• Manages business and generates business through group and individual efforts.
• Complies with the very highest ethical standards of the legal profession.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor
• Bachelors or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering Physics (preferred).

Requirements

• Licensed to practice law in good standing in one or more jurisdictions where the Firm conducts business.
• Must maintain applicable license renewal and CLE requirements.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
• 3+ years’ experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm (preferred).

Benefits

• Indirect supervisory responsibilities - actively utilizes support staff, patent agents, or junior associates to ensure client satisfaction.
• Travel required: Less than 10%.

Salary Range

• Chicago range: $215,000-$260,000
• Denver range: $205,000-$250,000
• New York range: $215,000-$260,000
• Philadelphia range: $205,000-$250,000
• Washington D.C.: $215,000-$260,000
