Role Description
Fast-paced Elder Law Firm Seeks Attorney with experience working with Texas Medicaid planning and applications, to serve in an Associate capacity, who aligns with the firm's values and can contribute to its mission of providing exceptional legal counsel.
We are searching for a warm, yet tenacious and perceptive attorney who specializes in Medicaid benefits, to consult with and convert the increasing Medicaid/government benefits client caseload. This Associate Attorney’s responsibilities include:

Meeting with clients to ascertain their needs.

Counseling and recommending the most appropriate, affordable course of action in a clear and relatable way for clients who may not initially understand what services they require.

Working in conjunction with a supportive Intake, Sales, and dedicated Medicaid Team.

Collaborating with and reporting to the firm’s Managing Attorney.

Starting salary: between $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 depending on experience, whether you intend on making efforts to originate new clients. This does not include the ability to earn bonuses based on caseload and origination.

Qualifications

REQUIRED: Accredited Law Degree; in Good Standing with the Texas Bar and a solid 5+ years of hands-on Texas Medicaid-planning experience.

Additional knowledge about public benefits in general, including Social Security, SSDI, SSI, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.

Knowledge of Texas Medicaid-compliant asset protection and government benefits preservation legal vehicles and strategies.

Ability to convey the value proposition of our services.

Innate dedication to ensuring the best outcome for all parties associated with the firm.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and other members of the team, with respect and courtesy.

Familiarity with legal documents/drafting software, i.e. WealthCounsel/ElderDocx.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to empathetically and patiently explain difficult concepts to our client base of mostly seniors and their caregivers and family members.

Strong work ethic, time management, and accountability; ability to self-manage required to work virtually.

Perceptive and meticulous, with a thorough understanding of human behavior.

Computer literate includes proficiency in Google and Microsoft applications.
Responsibilities
-
Conduct comprehensive consultations with pre-qualified potential new clients, conveying the value proposition of the firm’s services, while patiently and empathetically explaining the value and process.

Draft/review legal documents/instruments for/with clients of the firm via phone and Zoom.

Contribute writing articles and recording videos for the firm’s website.

Construct a succinct post-consultation summary.

Represent clients at meetings and (virtual) hearings when needed.

Inform the Managing Attorney about salient developments in each case.

Ensure that data obtained during interactions with clients remain confidential and are stored securely.

Report on hours spent on each task/case via CRM.

Maintain a caseload commensurate with abilities to provide full and effective legal representation and advocacy.

Maintain and grow knowledge in a specialized area of law, and competence in related areas of law.

Comply with all applicable regulations, policies, and grant requirements.

Support, promote, and participate in community education, outreach, and develop good public relations with clients.
