Role Description
This position will serve as a strategic legal partner to Foot Locker’s Real Estate, Store Development, Construction, and Property Management teams, supporting the company’s retail real estate strategy and store portfolio. The attorney will provide practical, business-oriented counsel on transactions spanning:

Lease negotiations and renewals

Remodels

Relocations

Portfolio optimization

Store closures
The successful candidate will bring deep experience negotiating sophisticated commercial retail real estate transactions, including:

Leases

Complex amendments
-
Letters of intent

Construction and design agreements
-
Reciprocal easement agreements

Purchase and sale agreements
-
SNDAs
-
Estoppels
-
Related ancillary documentation
The role requires an attorney who can balance legal risk with business objectives while operating effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
Role Responsibilities:

Support the Repositioning of our Retail Chain:
-
Draft, negotiate and oversee all documentation relating to retail real estate transactions, including leases, complex lease amendments, construction contracts, and architectural agreements.

Provide Legal Counsel to Internal Clients:
-
Monitor compliance with real estate-related contractual obligations and pursue non-compliance, including negotiating and drafting amendments to resolve issues.

Legal support to Real Estate, Development, Construction, Facilities, and Real Estate Management Departments.

Counsel and advise management on real estate matters.

Manage Third Party Relationships Related to Real Estate Portfolio:

Oversee and manage outside counsel in their preparation and negotiation of all documentation relating to real estate transactions.

Review and manage outside counsel fees to predetermined budgets.

Provide support and, where necessary, manage real estate-related litigation including, but not limited to mechanics’ liens and construction cost disputes.
Qualifications

Advanced Degree
-
JD
-
5-7 years experience
-
Possesses 8+ years of experience practicing law, preferably in a law firm, corporate legal department, or relevant regulatory agency (e.g., SEC); or has demonstrated a distinguished record of handling complex matters that correlates to the level of practice experience described.

Benefits

Targeted Pay Range: $127,000.00 - $237,800.00.

This is part of a competitive total rewards package that could include other components such as: incentive, equity, and benefits.

Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
