Role Description
The Counsel’s primary responsibility is to provide substantive support to the Legal & Compliance Department, with a specific focus on drafting and negotiating vendor contracts, as well as supporting critical projects and partnerships that advance the organization’s initiatives. This individual is a forward-thinking professional who is ready and able to exercise independent judgment in contract reviews, support strategic business decisions, think creatively, and work well with internal and external customers and vendors.

Drafting and negotiating company contracts, including those with Third-Party Vendors, marketing agreements, and commercial clients.

Providing legal support on various company projects and initiatives, with a specific focus on key partnerships.

Training junior attorneys and paralegals.

Providing general legal support for company operations, such as researching and analyzing federal and state laws related to the healthcare/pharmacy industry, commercial contracts, and business transactions.

All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, Juris Doctorate, and active State Bar Certification.

A minimum of 4 years of experience in a relevant legal field.

Contract drafting and negotiation experience required.

Demonstrated competence in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.

Must have excellent legal research and writing, organizational, teamwork, and communications skills.

Demonstrated dedication to a high level of client service, sound business and legal judgment, and ability to determine priorities to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Self-motivation and attention to detail.

Must have the ability to take ownership and prioritize multiple competing projects.
Requirements

Experience with healthcare law, including HIPAA.

Experience with the pharmacy and/or medical benefits industry.
