Role Description
Affirm is seeking a Compliance Lead who will support the companyโs Fair Lending Program. This position plays a fundamental role by delivering key results and providing subject matter expertise on regulatory requirements. In this capacity, the Compliance Lead will collaborate with Legal, Product, Credit, Applied Machine Learning, Engineering, and senior leadership to identify and assess fair lending risk within applicable requirements, and provide guidance to mitigate risk. Remotely, the role will report to the Director of Fair Lending and will work cross-functionally with other teams.
What Youโll Do

Support second-line oversight of Fair Lending risk across the full credit lifecycle

Partner cross-functionally with Product, Credit, Machine Learning, Engineering, and Legal to embed Fair Lending considerations into product design, model development, and go-to-market decisions

Own and evolve key components of Affirmโs Fair Lending Program, including governance, risk assessments, monitoring, and testing frameworks

Provide clear, actionable guidance on complex regulatory expectations (e.g., ECOA/Reg B, UDAAP) and translate them into practical solutions across the product lifecycle

Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment on compliance risk
Qualifications

5+ years of experience in compliance, audit, or regulatory roles within financial services, with specific experience supporting Fair and Responsible Lending programs and regulations (e.g., ECOA/Reg B, UDAAP)

Strong understanding of Fair Lending Compliance Management Systems, including risk assessments, testing, governance, and issue management across complex products and models

Experience partnering with technical and business teams (e.g., credit risk, machine learning, product) to evaluate and mitigate risk in models and decision systems

Ability to navigate ambiguity, apply regulatory judgment, and make informed decisions in a fast-evolving fintech and regulatory landscape

Clear, concise communicator who can distill complex topics and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership and external partners

Highly organized and proactive, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $130,000 - $170,000

USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $115,000 - $155,000
