[Hiring] Compliance Lead @Decentralized Masters

Role Description

The Compliance Lead is the operational owner of legal and regulatory compliance across the entire organization. This is not a passive advisory role. The Compliance Lead is expected to build infrastructure, enforce standards, manage external counsel relationships, and serve as the front line of risk management for every department that touches customers, marketing, or revenue.

Responsibilities

• Marketing & Advertising Compliance:
  • Establish and operate a formal pre-launch review process for all external marketing assets.
  • Build and maintain a versioned asset library with compliance notes, approval status, and review history.
  • Develop and enforce a testimonial and income claims system.
  • Review and approve all lifestyle and aspirational imagery for implied income claims.
  • Maintain a pre-approved disclaimer and disclosure library.
  • Monitor and evaluate DM’s platform ad accounts for compliance.
• Sales Team Compliance:
  • Review, annotate, and approve sales webinar scripts and one-on-one sales frameworks.
  • Conduct post-webinar compliance audits.
  • Implement a restatement protocol for sales interactions.
  • Maintain a real-time log of personalized investing statement incidents.
  • Identify and escalate patterns of claims approaching personalized investment advice.
• Product Compliance:
  • Conduct a full risk assessment of all current DM products.
  • Create and maintain an internal and customer-facing compliance glossary.
  • Review and update the student onboarding agreement.
  • Build and manage a mentor-student conversation tracking and de-risking toolkit.
  • Monitor and report on mentor compliance patterns.
• Affiliate & Partner Compliance:
  • Review and revise affiliate agreement templates.
  • Conduct compliance and background vetting of new affiliate partners.
  • Maintain a HubSpot database of all active affiliate and partner contracts.
  • Implement an ongoing affiliate content monitoring process.
  • Serve as a second set of eyes on incoming business development proposals.
• Data Privacy & Consumer Protection:
  • Audit and certify DM’s SMS marketing program for TCPA compliance.
  • Review all commercial email programs for CAN-SPAM compliance.
  • Build and maintain a PII data retention policy.
• Business Structure & Entity Compliance:
  • Create and maintain an accurate visual map of the DM corporate structure.
  • Ensure all external communications clearly identify third-party products.
  • Conduct an ongoing legal structure risk assessment.
• Internal Training & Policy Management:
  • Ongoing training and compliance onboarding for new hires.
  • Conduct quarterly compliance training sessions for the mentor team.
  • Maintain a centralized compliance policy library.
  • Produce a monthly internal compliance digest.
• External Counsel Management:
  • Serve as the primary internal liaison with outside legal counsel.
  • Triage issues between internal handling and escalation to outside counsel.
  • Track and brief leadership on regulatory developments.

Qualifications

• Background in a compliance, legal, or risk management role within FTC-regulated marketing, financial publishing, fintech, or direct-response marketing.
• Familiarity with crypto, DeFi, or broader fintech regulatory landscape.
• Hands-on knowledge of FTC Endorsement Guides, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and the Publisher’s Exemption.
• Direct exposure to affiliate ecosystem compliance.
• Experience reviewing marketing copy, VSLs, email sequences, and webinar scripts for compliance risk.
