Role Description

Join Our Team as a Commercial Counsel – Arity Advertising and Marketing. We’re looking for a creative, collaborative, and high-energy attorney who thrives at the intersection of law, business, technology, and data. This role sits within the Business Law division of Allstate’s Law and Regulation department and offers the opportunity to counsel Allstate’s mobility data and telematics business unit (Arity), advising its marketing solutions business on a wide range of commercial agreements, product counseling and related matters.

• Provide real-time, strategic legal counsel on a wide array of business matters, including product development, marketing, sales, and emerging technologies.
• Structure, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements—especially those involving advertising, marketing, and data service arrangements.
• Advise on legal risk management and evolving regulatory landscapes in areas such as technology, commercial contracts, privacy, and consumer protection.
• Contribute to enterprise-wide strategies by collaborating across business units, policy, compliance, and legal teams.
• Anticipate legal issues and offer practical, innovative solutions in fast-paced and dynamic business environments.
• Conduct in-depth legal research and help assess the impact of emerging laws or regulations on business activities.
• Help foster alignment between business goals and legal frameworks in regulated industries.
• Navigate ambiguity with confidence and help shape emerging business models and opportunities.
• Contribute to a culture of open dialogue and collaborative problem solving across a distributed, virtual team.

This is a remote role with travel required. While the position is open to remote candidates across the U.S., preferred home office locations include Chicago, IL; New York, NY; or San Francisco, CA due to team collaboration and business travel considerations.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate and active bar membership in good standing.
• A minimum of 7 years of legal experience, ideally within a law firm or the in-house legal department of a mid- to large-sized organization.
• Proven expertise in one or more of the following areas: commercial law, privacy, advertising/marketing law, technology, artificial intelligence, intellectual property.
• Experience working within a corporate parent company and across a family of affiliated entities.
