[Hiring] Claims Specialist III @UFG Insurance

Role Description

UFG is currently hiring for a Claims Specialist III for Excess & Surplus lines. This is a senior level technically advanced position responsible for claim decisions and actions that promote high quality, efficient and cost-effective representation of our insureds and UFG in complex and high exposure litigated matters. In addition, this position will be responsible for compliance with technical large loss management and reporting on his or her files.

Responsibilities include:

• Investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving high-severity, high-complexity casualty claims.
• Conducting thorough claim investigations.
• Analyzing coverage, liability, damages, and exposure.
• Establishing and maintaining appropriate reserves.
• Developing claim and resolution strategies.
• Evaluating settlement opportunities.
• Selecting and managing defense counsel and experts.
• Directing litigation activities.
• Monitoring litigation and underlying claim handling for excess claims.
• Applying proactive claim oversight and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Meet the appropriate state licensing requirements to handle claims.
• CPCU, AIC, SCLA or Legal Principles, CCLA and PCLA of the AEI series preferred.
• 10+ years of casualty claims experience, preferably including excess experience.

• Ability to read, comprehend and interpret policy language, endorsements, and contracts.
• Analytical ability to determine coverage, risk transfer, liability, and bodily injury/property damage evaluation for reserves and settlement.
• Strong negotiation skills, human relations skills, analytical skills, organization skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to concisely document information into appropriate file notes and reports.
• Proactive management of defense counsel and expense management.

Pay Transparency Statement

UFG Insurance is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this position is $103,221 - $136,105 annually, which represents the typical range for new hires in this role. Individual pay within this range will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, internal equity, geography, and market data.
