[Hiring] Chief of Staff, Director of Legal Operations @Anaconda, Inc.

Role Description

We're looking for a Chief of Staff, Director of Legal Operations to join the Office of the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) at Anaconda. This role sits at the center of the Office of the CLO, reporting directly to the CLO. You'll own the Legal Ops function directly — managing a small team, running the budget, and driving the people, processes and technology initiatives — while also serving as a force multiplier for the CLO across all functions.

What You'll Do

• Start with a deep dive on how the department and cross-functional partners operate today.
• Own the build over the long haul, delivering reportable metrics that matter.
• Provide real-time dashboard visibility into team performance.
• Act as a trusted partner fluent across data, influence, communications, and relationships.

Strategic Partnership (Chief of Staff)

• Partner with the CLO and her leadership team to define and execute long-term strategy.
• Own operational planning cycles, including OKR processes and roadmap development.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts to keep all internal and external functions aligned.

Legal Operations Leadership

• Lead and develop the Legal Ops function, including direct management of the team.
• Own the global Legal budget, forecasting, and accruals.
• Lead the strategy for Legal-specific vendors with a focus on data-driven performance.
• Maintain and evolve the Legal tech stack and design streamlined intake and triage systems.

Reporting and Performance

• Design and own the framework for tracking organizational performance.
• Build automated dashboards and real-time progress views.
• Use AI to synthesize inputs across practice areas into actionable updates.

Cross-Functional Integration

• Act as the strategic liaison between the CLO org and other departments.
• Ensure all CLO departments are integrated into business decisions upstream.
• Focus on critical cross-functional initiatives, including post-acquisition integration efforts.

AI and Operational Tooling

• Continuously identify and implement AI tools and workflows across the organization.
• Explore automation and intelligent tooling to reduce friction and improve quality.

Your Impact Will Be Measured Through

• Health of the Legal Ops function: budget accuracy and vendor performance.
• Reduction in coordination breakdowns across all functions within the CLO organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Legal Operations, strategy, business operations, or a similarly broad operational role.
• Proven experience operating close to a CLO, General Counsel, or senior legal executive.
• Hands-on Legal Ops experience: budget management, outside counsel strategy, and legal tech stack ownership.
• Strong analytical instincts and experience with data and financial models.
• Track record of producing high-quality executive communications.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools to enhance legal and operational work.
• Ability to hold ambiguity, prioritize under pressure, and move quickly.
• A sense of humor, a bias for action, and the ability to balance current tasks with future planning.

Requirements

• Experience leading or building a Legal Ops function.
• Background that spans legal or compliance depth alongside operational breadth.
• Active participation in legal ops or similar communities.
• Experience in or alongside a Strategic Operations, BizOps, or Corp Dev function.
• Experience in open-source, AI, or data-intensive technology companies.
• A clear point of view on AI's impact on legal operations.
