[Hiring] Attorney - Independent Contractor - US Business Immigration @EY

Role Description

As an independently contracted Attorney, you will deliver US immigration legal advice and compliance services, helping corporate clients navigate complex requirements and implement effective immigration strategies. Your work will span non-immigrant visas such as H-1B, L-1, E, TN, immigrant visa categories, PERM labour certifications, naturalization, and related matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and validate immigration case strategy to ensure alignment with client objectives and regulatory requirements
• Review and validate materials prepared for submission to government authorities
• Lead legal consultation calls with corporate clients and their employees

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree
• US bar licence - any US state - and licence to practice US law in the state or province of residence
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing US attorney
• Minimum of 3 years of practice experience in US business immigration law
• Advanced knowledge of one or more areas of US business immigration
• Commitment of 20 hours per work week is required

Requirements

• A Canadian-based U.S. Attorney will be contracted to EY Law LLP
• A U.S. Attorney based in the United States will be contracted to Mehlman Jacobs LLP
• The initial contract term will be 1 year, with possibility to renew on an annual basis
• Independent Contractor Attorneys are not eligible for vacation entitlements or employer benefits
