Role Description
As we build Midnite in Ontario, we need someone to make sure our growth is clean growth. You’ll run day-to-day anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing (AML/ATF) for our Ontario casino:
-
Spotting suspicious activity
-
Investigating it
-
Reporting it properly
-
Building the controls that reduce the risk of it happening again
You’ll shape how AML works at Midnite in Ontario from the ground up, with real influence over product and payments decisions. This is a hands-on role:
-
Set the direction and do the work yourself
-
Tune monitoring rules and work alerts
-
Write reports and lead investigations
-
Keep our program aligned with the PCMLTFA, FINTRAC guidance, the AGCO Standards, and iGaming Ontario’s AML requirements
-
Design effective, proportionate controls that protect players and the business without getting in the way of the player experience
You Will:
-
Build and own our AML/ATF program, policies and procedures for Ontario, keeping them in step with federal and provincial rules as they change
-
Lead AML/ATF readiness for our Ontario launch, working cross-functionally to implement and test monitoring, screening and reporting controls before go-live
-
Lead our ML/TF risk assessment and keep it current as we launch new products, markets and payment methods
-
Run transaction monitoring day to day: set the rules, tune the alerts, review what comes through, and make sure the right activity gets caught across deposits, withdrawals, betting and gaming
-
Investigate unusual behaviour, from structuring and minimal-play cash-outs to collusion, third-party funding and mule accounts, and make the call on escalated cases
-
Manage customer risk, enhanced due diligence and source of funds/wealth reviews, ensuring sanctions, PEP and HIO screening matches are promptly resolved or escalated
-
Prepare and submit required AML reports, including Suspicious Transaction Reports and Casino Disbursement Reports, accurately and on time, in line with iGO’s reporting arrangements and FINTRAC requirements, with quality checks and clear documentation behind every decision
-
Own our AML deliverables to iGO and the AGCO, and lead us through audits, effectiveness reviews and regulator examinations, seeing remediation through to done
-
Design and deliver AML/ATF training, turn AML data into clear metrics for senior leadership, and be the go-to AML expert across the business
Qualifications
-
5+ years in AML/ATF compliance, ideally in online gambling, payments, fintech or banking, including time leading investigations, people or a program
-
Know the PCMLTFA and FINTRAC guidance well; a CAMS, ICA or an equivalent certification is a bonus
-
Understand how Ontario igaming works, including the AGCO Standards and iGO’s AML requirements
-
Hands-on experience with transaction monitoring, case management and screening tools; comfortable digging into data (SQL or BI tools are a plus)
-
Happy rolling up your sleeves: like working the cases as much as shaping the strategy
-
Sharp investigative judgement and clear writing skills; have supported audits or regulatory examinations and know how to drive remediation
-
Pragmatic: can find the control that manages the risk while keeping the player experience enjoyable
