[Hiring] Administrative Assistant - Legal (Summer Student) @The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda Territory

Role Description

The summer student will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Legal Department, which supports various Ministry Units across the Canada and Bermuda Territory. The summer student will gain practical experience in clerical duties, data entry, and data analysis in the legal context. This position is created through the Canada Summer Jobs Program for the duration of a minimum of nine (9) weeks.

• Provide administrative support to the Legal Department
• Enter and verify information or data in existing formats or databases
• Maintain documentation and filing and other administration duties as required
• Perform various office/clerical duties (e.g. photocopy and distribute materials as requested)
• Arrange for documents to be signed, including witness for signatures
• Assist in the processing of files, including review of older files for purging
• Send and receive fax or email as requested
• Perform any other related duties as requested

Qualifications

• Preference will be given to students in the social service, nonprofit management or related field attending an accredited college/university
• Have a basic understanding of social services programs within the territory
• Have a basic understanding about governance, finance, human resources, proposal development and policy development
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and IBM Lotus Notes
• Able to operate basic office equipment (telephone system, photocopier, etc.)
• Good communication and organizational skills
• Proven ability to exercise high level of confidentiality
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills

Requirements

• Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number)
• Be between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment
• Be a high school, college, CEGEP, or university student
• Be registered in the YCW Candidate inventory
• Non-Canadian students holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible

Benefits

• The compensation for this summer position is $20.00 per hour
• The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $21.03 with a maximum of $25.23
• Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role
