[Hiring] NOC Tier 1 Technician @Velocity

Role Description

Velocity is a fast-paced company with an open-door environment seeking Data NOC Tier 1 Technicians to join our team. This is an entry-level role within a 24/7/365 Network Operations Center.

The primary responsibility of the NOC Tier 1 Technician is to monitor, support, and troubleshoot customer network environments. This role works directly with customers, on-site technicians, carrier service providers, and Tier 2 Technicians to ensure timely resolution of network-related issues involving:

• Broadband circuits
• Routers
• Modems
• Switches
• WiFi
• VoIP
• Telephony
• Other network-connected devices

Tier 1 Technicians are responsible for:

• Identifying issues
• Initiating troubleshooting
• Documenting activity
• Escalating more complex problems to Tier 2 when necessary

We have the following shifts available (all in Eastern Time Zone):

• Tuesday-Saturday 11:30am-8pm EST
• Wednesday-Sunday 3:30pm-12am EST

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• Associate degree preferred
• 1+ year of experience in IT support, networking, or customer service
• Entry-level certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+) are a plus but not required
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship

Requirements

• Strong customer service mindset with clear and professional communication skills
• Ability to document technical information thoroughly and accurately
• Basic understanding of networking concepts and tools, including:
• OSI Model
• TCP/IP
• Routers and switches
• Broadband technologies (DSL, Ethernet)
• WiFi
• VoIP and telephony (POTS)
• Telnet
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to follow structured troubleshooting processes
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
• Ability to recognize when escalation to Tier 2 is required
