Role Description

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. The Human Resources Section (HRS) provides a full range of HR services to the organization and its workforce. As part of the Human Resources Section, the Capacity Development Team (CDT) designs capacity development and learning programmes for UN Volunteers.

The role involves collaboration with various teams to align learning initiatives with organizational priorities, contributing to:

  • Event Administration and Logistics:
    • Assist in coordination and delivery of global workshops, including managing enrolments, facilitator scheduling, logistical arrangements, and providing technical support during virtual events.
    • Ensure timely preparation, review, and dissemination of learning materials, collaborating with focal points and facilitators.
    • Perform administrative tasks such as tracking attendance, managing participant lists, and preparing event summaries.
  • Learning Design Support for UN Volunteers:
    • Assist in developing and designing learning content for delivery to UN Volunteers across different contexts.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts and learning stakeholders to create engaging and accessible learning experiences.
    • Support facilitators by consolidating inputs, version-checking materials, and ensuring materials are shared in a timely and accessible manner.
  • Communication and Advocacy:
    • Support content curation, design and distribution of promotional materials, and updates on UNV learning initiatives to increase awareness and participation in UNV learning opportunities.
    • Collaborate with volunteers and partners to develop communication materials that highlight their contributions and the outcomes of learning initiatives.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Support implementation of tracking systems to monitor the reach and outcomes of learning initiatives and communication campaigns.
    • Follow-up on learning evaluation processes, ensuring timely data collection and centralization through designated platforms and tools.
    • Support analysis of feedback and evaluation results for reports on the workshop outcomes, providing data-driven recommendations for improvements.
  • eCampus - Learning Platform Support:
    • Support update and maintenance of accurate information on the UNV eCampus platform, ensuring accessibility and relevance of learning resources.

Qualifications

  • Desired: Degree in International Relations, International Development, Education, Adult Learning, Human Resources, Communications, Marketing, or another related field.
  • Proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken forms is required.
  • Knowledge of one/more of the other five official languages of the UN (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is very desirable.

Requirements

  • Alignment of the activities in these TOR with the course of study.
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Creating and disseminating communication materials, managing social media accounts, or supporting communication campaigns.
    • Organizing events, workshops, or webinars, including responsibilities such as scheduling, logistics planning, and participant communication and engagement.
    • Conducting research on global trends or best practices and preparing reports or summaries with actionable insights based on data analysis.
    • Proficiency in using tools like Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and online collaboration platforms.
    • Experience working in diverse cultural settings, including international or volunteer-based environments.

  • Intern will be given a monthly stipend in accordance with the provisions of the UNDP Internship policy.
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for the medical and life insurance of the intern or costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during an internship.
  • All expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring government or institutions.
