This is a hands-on role requiring both strategic thinking and practical execution. Success depends on a proactive, solutions-oriented approach. The ideal candidate adapts quickly to changing priorities, brings structure and clarity to ambiguity and skillfully balances competing demands while driving issues to resolution.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise authorized to work in the United States and able to work onsite as needed to support business-related activities.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive human resources generalist experience including direct ownership of employee relations matters and leave administration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial and Labor Relations or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) or the ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, deliver difficult guidance constructively and provide responsive, hands-on support to internal and external stakeholders, including prospective, current and former employees, vendors and external partners.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting and documenting workplace investigations and managing sensitive employee relations matters with sound judgment, discretion and strong documentation practices when handling confidential information.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws, including Title VII, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA and USERRA, with the ability to interpret and apply state-specific requirements related to leave administration, workers' compensation, unemployment insurance and wage and hour compliance.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment by adapting to changing priorities, resolving issues in real time and proactively improving processes and systems.
  • Strong HRIS and Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to build, analyze, validate and communicate workforce reports and metrics.

Requirements

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employees and managers on workplace concerns, policy questions, performance issues and conflict.
  • Coach supervisors on performance management, expectation setting, documentation, corrective action and difficult conversations, ensuring consistency and legal defensibility.
  • Conduct prompt, impartial and thoroughly documented workplace investigations into complaints of harassment, discrimination, retaliation and policy violations and recommend appropriate action.
  • Advise on and process involuntary separations and reductions in force, coordinating state-specific notice, final pay and documentation requirements.
  • Administer federal and state leave programs end to end, including FMLA eligibility determination, designation notices, medical certification, intermittent leave tracking and return-to-work coordination.
  • Maintain compliance with state and local requirements that vary across our footprint, including paid sick leave, pay transparency, final pay timing, notice requirements and reconcile them against federal law and company policy.
  • Administer employee accommodation and leave programs, including managing the ADA interactive process from request through determination and coordinating short-term and long-term disability, workers' compensation and parental leave cases with managers, carriers, payroll and employees.
  • Monitor legislative changes in the states where we employ people and translate them into policy, handbook and payroll practice updates before the effective date.
  • Serve as an HR point of contact for internal audits, client compliance reviews and government inquiries.
  • Partner in the development of improvements to HR processes, policies, templates, service standards to support an evolving people function.
  • Support DCAA-compliant timekeeping and labor charging, including policy communication and training reinforcement.
  • Support compensation planning, conduct FLSA exemption and job classification reviews and maintain accurate job descriptions and compensation documentation.
  • Draft, maintain and communicate HR policies and the employee handbook for a multi-state workforce.
  • Produce and analyze workforce metrics, compensation and employee relations trends to inform business decisions.
  • Lead or support HR technology initiatives and system implementations, including requirements gathering, data migration, testing, deployment, change management and user adoption.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and vision coverage.
  • Retirement savings options.
  • Discretionary bonus opportunities.
  • Reimbursement for professional development and continuing education.
