Role Description

The Finway Group, a Strongpoint partner, is seeking a Retirement Onboarding Manager to lead a team of Retirement Onboarding Specialists and deliver a seamless experience for new retirement plan clients. You will also coach and develop the specialists who manage this work every day.

The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of qualified retirement plans and a proven track record of leading people. You set clear expectations, maintain a high bar for accuracy, and build processes that scale as the business growsβ€”all while keeping the client experience at the center of the team’s work.

Please Note: This is a fully remote position for candidates located in the Eastern and Central time zones only. Due to the primary locations of our client teams, preference will be given to candidates in the Atlanta area who are able to work on a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex retirement plan concepts to clients, advisors, and leadership
  • Strong coaching skills and the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Sound judgment, a proactive and solutions-oriented approach, and a strong sense of ownership

Requirements

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Retirement Onboarding Specialists, including hiring, training, goal setting, and performance management
  • Assign and balance onboarding caseloads based on plan complexity, team capacity, and client deadlines
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex plan provisions, challenging conversions, and client or partner concerns
  • Build a team culture centered on accountability, collaboration, accuracy, and continuous learning
  • Oversee onboarding for all new retirement plan clients, ensuring key milestones and deadlines are met across the full book of business
  • Review plan document mapping, amendments, restatements, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), and related materials for accuracy and compliance before finalization
  • Own onboarding systems, status reporting, and documentation, and provide leadership with visibility into pipeline, timelines, and team performance
  • Lead plan provision and onboarding calls for complex or high-priority clients, advising clients and advisors on plan design options and next steps
  • Guide the team on plan design improvements and solutions for provisions that may not be supported by recordkeepers
  • Build and maintain standard operating procedures, checklists, and quality control practices for the onboarding process
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for recordkeepers, advisors, and internal teams to resolve recurring issues and keep projects moving
  • Identify and implement improvements to processes, workflows, and technology as the business grows
  • Stay current on ERISA, IRS, and legislative changes affecting qualified retirement plans, translating updates into actionable guidance and training for the team
  • Perform other duties as assigned
