Role Description

This 7‑month contract role is ideal for an experienced Benefits Leave Administrator who enjoys supporting employees and ensuring accurate, compliant benefits and leave processes. You will provide operational support for U.S. benefits programs and leave of absence administration, handling day‑to‑day activities, responding to employee inquiries, coordinating with benefits partners, and supporting compliance and administrative processes. The position is fully remote, and you must be able to work Pacific Standard Time hours while helping deliver clear, timely, and effective benefits and leave services to employees.

Responsibilities

• Administer leave of absence requests from employees, ensuring accurate processing, timely communication, and compliance with company policy and applicable state and federal laws.
• Monitor and close out employee benefits ticket requests, providing timely resolution, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining clear, professional communication.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits eligibility, plan details, and claims status, explaining information in an accessible and understandable way.
• Maintain and update employee benefits records, eligibility data, and documentation within benefits administration systems and HRIS platforms.
• Support open enrollment activities, including employee communications, distribution of collateral and materials, and coordination with benefits vendors.
• Coordinate with benefits vendors, including medical, pharmacy, and retirement plan providers, to resolve claims issues, address system questions, and support participant communications.
• Prepare benefits reports, summaries, and compliance documentation to support internal stakeholders and regulatory requirements.
• Support benefits-related compliance activities, ensuring adherence to ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, and other applicable U.S. benefits regulations.
• Assist with new benefits plan implementations, including data migration, system testing, and employee communication support.
• Collaborate with HR partners, benefits vendors, and internal stakeholders to improve processes, resolve issues, and support talent management initiatives.
• Manage multiple inquiries and requests simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and a high level of customer service.
• Protect sensitive employee information by maintaining strict confidentiality and following all relevant data privacy and security guidelines.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in benefits administration and/or leave of absence management.
• Hands-on experience with leave of absence administration and related documentation.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. benefits regulations and compliance requirements, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and FMLA.
• Proficiency with benefits administration systems and HRIS platforms.
• Solid understanding of state and federal laws related to employee benefits and leaves of absence.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing benefits records and employee data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain benefits information clearly to diverse employee populations.
• Ability to manage multiple inquiries, tickets, and requests while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with vendors, HR partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify issues, troubleshoot, and escalate matters appropriately when needed.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and protecting sensitive employee information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools for documentation, reporting, and communication.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience supporting open enrollment processes, including employee communications and vendor coordination.
• Background in benefits management, benefits administration, and process improvement in an HR or talent management environment.
• Familiarity with HR systems and schedule management tools.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift during key benefits and leave cycles.
• Ability to contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of benefits and leave administration.

Work Environment

This is a fully remote consulting role supporting a midsize software firm, with work performed during Pacific Standard Time hours. You will primarily collaborate with U.S. benefits and leave leadership and may support global benefits initiatives on an ad hoc basis. Work is conducted using standard HRIS and benefits administration systems, along with Microsoft Office tools for reporting and communication. You must supply and use your own personal laptop for this position. The environment is professional, detail-oriented, and compliance-focused, with regular interaction across HR, benefits vendors, and internal stakeholders.

This is a Contract position based out of Bellevue, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
