Role Description

The Department of Economic Security, Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility, is seeking an experienced, highly motivated individual to join our team as a Benefits and Eligibility Specialist Advanced in the Family Assistance Administration (FAA) Appeals Processing Unit. This position is responsible for:

• Conducting pre-hearing conferences with appellants.
• Attending fair hearings and acting as a department witness.
• Completing required actions as instructed by the Office of Appeals.
• Coordinating with FAA offices and Fair Hearing Liaisons to ensure compliance with Federal and State requirements.
• Serving as a resource for solving complex problems involving multiple programs.
• Reconciling benefits in programs involving both state and federal laws and regulations.
• Advocating in the appeals process.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience performing benefits and eligibility reviews and determinations.

Requirements

• Driver’s License Requirements if driving is essential to the job.
• Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the process.
• All newly hired State employees must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
