The Recruiter plays a key role in executing inclusive, efficient, and high-quality hiring processes that support AIR’s mission and values. Working closely with hiring managers and HR partners, the Recruiter manages full-cycle recruitment, builds candidate pipelines, and delivers a positive candidate experience while contributing to AIR’s broader talent and workforce goals. This position reports to the Senior Recruiter within the team. Creative and relationship‑driven, the Recruiter builds lasting connections with both candidates and hiring managers, and leverages data and analytics to generate insights that make AIR’s hiring processes smarter, more strategic, and more effective.

This position offers flexibility to be fully remote within the United States (does not include U.S. territories) or to work in a hybrid capacity from AIR’s offices in Crystal City, VA, or Chicago, IL, with occasional travel required for meetings and training sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for a diverse range of positions, including proactive sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and offer facilitation.
  • Partner closely with hiring managers to clarify role requirements, develop job postings, and align on search strategy and timelines.
  • Build and maintain strong candidate pipelines through strategic sourcing, targeted outreach, referrals, and optimized job posting channels.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation within the applicant tracking system, maintaining compliance and data integrity, and seamless workflow visibility.
  • Support employer branding initiatives by managing social platform postings, participating in virtual career events, and preparing polished, candidate‑facing materials.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and support Applicant Tracking System (ATS) design and implementation efforts, including workflow optimization, testing, and user training.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key recruiting metrics, identifying trends and opportunities to strengthen efficiency, equity, and overall hiring outcomes.
  • Assist with strategic projects related to process improvement, talent market research, and candidate experience enhancements.
  • Foster strong relationships and enhance collaboration and engagement to achieve shared objectives.
  • Collaborate with HR partners to support onboarding activities and contribute to broader workforce planning efforts.
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, ideally within a professional services, nonprofit, or research-driven environment.
  • Experienced with applicant tracking systems and sourcing platforms, including supporting implementations, workflow setup, data migration, and user training.
  • Skilled in sourcing and lead generation, with hands‑on experience using LinkedIn Recruiter and other advanced tools to fill hard‑to‑hire roles.

Skills

  • Strong relationship‑building and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and engage effectively with individuals at all organizational levels, including in virtual environments.
  • Proven ability to operate with a high degree of independence, exercising sound judgment and initiative, while also engaging collaboratively to support shared goals and team success.
  • Advanced analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills, demonstrating disciplined attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, high‑quality results.
  • Customer‑focused and consultative, skilled at managing expectations and supporting a positive experience.
  • Highly organized and dependable, maintaining accuracy, consistency, and professionalism at every stage of recruitment.
  • Proactive and committed to continuous learning, with strong project‑management skills to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and drive recruitment initiatives to completion.
  • Proficient in using standard Microsoft 365, including OneDrive, SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
