Role Description

An integral part of the Human Resources team, the Human Resources Specialist is responsible for day-to-day administration and compliance activities related to employee leave programs, workers' compensation, Unemployment claims processing, OSHA and EEO reporting, required employment law postings, as well as maintaining HRIS data and Employee Files.

  • Partners with vendors to administer Federal and State leave programs across multiple states, including eligibility review, notifications, tracking time and ensuring timely follow-up with employees.
  • Partners with vendors to lead the administration of workers’ compensation claims, including coordinating with carriers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintains OSHA injury and illness records; prepares and posts the annual OSHA.
  • Prepares and submits annual EEO-1 and other required federal, state, or local HR-related reports, ensuring accuracy and appropriate record.
  • Maintains complete and compliant personnel files and related electronic records.
  • Runs, schedules, and validates HRIS reports to support compliance, audits, and reporting on leaves of absence, workers' compensation, headcount, demographics. Creates dashboards for HR.
  • Monitors federal, state, and local employment law posting requirements; ensures all required postings are current, visible, and available to on-site and remote employees.
  • Partners with HR Generalists on internal and external audits related to HR compliance (e.g., leaves, workers' compensation, I-9s, personnel files, EEO/affirmative action data).
  • Conducts OSHA, EEO, BLS reporting and assists with other required state and federal reporting.
  • Responds to unemployment claims and participates in hearings when necessary.
  • Responds to manager and employee questions related to leaves of absence, workers' compensation, OSHA/incident reporting, EEO data, and personnel files, escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources colleagues across disciplines and programs in multiple locations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of Human Resources experience
  • Familiarity with leave and workers compensation programs
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Comfortable learning new systems and tools
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment in problem solving and decision-making related to professional human resource duties

Requirements

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Familiarity with unemployment claims processing
  • Experience with multi-state employers
