[Hiring] Human Resource Generalist - Onboarding & Compliance @Smart Tech Contracting, LLC

Role Description

The HR Generalist – Onboarding & Compliance is responsible for managing and executing end-to-end onboarding processes while ensuring compliance with all employment regulations and company standards across Smart Tech Contracting. This role supports enterprise onboarding, compliance administration, and HR operations, including:

• I-9 processing
• E-Verify
• Background checks
• New hire integration

This role plays a critical part in establishing consistent onboarding practices, improving efficiency through technology, and supporting a positive employee experience from day one.

• Owns onboarding and compliance processes end-to-end
• Partners with HR, Operations, and leadership to align onboarding practices with organizational standards
• Communicates and operates in line with organizational goals and values

Qualifications

• Knowledge of onboarding processes, employee lifecycle, and best practices
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, including I-9 and E-Verify requirements
• Knowledge of background check procedures and compliance standards
• Knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and data management practices
• Knowledge of HR documentation, recordkeeping, and audit requirements
• Knowledge of employee experience principles and onboarding engagement strategies
• Understanding of HR operations, policies, and procedures
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling compliance documentation
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in HR systems such as Rippling, Smartsheet, or similar platforms
• Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships
• Data entry and reporting skills with a focus on maintaining data integrity
• Ability to manage end-to-end onboarding processes independently
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Ability to interpret and apply employment laws and compliance requirements
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Ability to collaborate effectively with HR, IT, hiring managers, and leadership
• Ability to identify process improvement opportunities
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and evolving HR practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
• A recognized HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP
• Equivalent professional recruiting experience
• Minimum of 5 years of recruiting experience
