Role Description

WES is seeking an individual to lead, strengthen, and scale the organization’s engagement with immigrant, refugee and key communities across diverse cultures, languages, and lived experiences, focusing specifically on communities that WES serves and that are relevant partners in line with the mission and work of the organization.

You will serve as a strategist and relationship‑builder for immigrant engagement, working cross‑functionally to embed community‑driven perspectives into program, product and initiative development, research, advocacy, and approaches across WES. This role will be responsible for shaping WES’ community engagement strategy in relation to strengthening equity‑centered practices, and leading efforts to elevate immigrant voices in ways that inform and influence our internal operations as well as our external partnerships and advocacy.

What You’ll Do:

  • Strategic Leadership & Planning
    • Partner with leadership to develop and lead an Immigrant Experience and Engagement Community Partnership Strategy and Framework, aligning community needs with WES mission, values and strategic priorities.
    • Collaborates cross-functionally with Social Impact’s Community Power Lead and internal teams, including the People Team to design and implement strategies.
    • Identify relevant local and global emerging trends, shifts in community needs, and changes access to good work that would inform and shape long‑term strategic directions.
    • Advise senior leadership on culturally responsive practices, immigrant perspectives, and implications for strategic decisions.
    • Develop and pilot approaches to inclusive practices, documenting lessons and adapting our strategy and frameworks in line with the evolving strategic direction and priorities.
    • Develop clear inclusive governance approaches and provide direction and insights on how these can be implemented, adapted and evolved.
  • Community Partnership Development
    • Build, maintain, and deepen trusted, long‑term relationships with immigrant communities representing diverse cultures, languages, intersectional identities, and migration journeys.
    • Establish and strengthen partnerships with community‑based organizations, advocacy groups, coalitions, and community partners.
    • Serve as a senior liaison and trusted representative of WES in key immigrant community networks and sector coalitions.
  • Community Engagement & Representation
    • Design and oversee inclusive, accessible engagement initiatives—including listening sessions, focus groups, roundtables, and forums—that elevate immigrant and multicultural voices.
    • Ensure community insights are authentically reflected in internal planning, evaluation, and decision‑making.
    • Represent WES at conferences, public events, sector convenings, and community spaces to build visibility and trust.
  • Program Development, Implementation & Evaluation
    • Guide teams in applying community‑driven design processes and equitable evaluation methods.
    • Oversee participatory evaluation frameworks to gather community insights, assess impact, and ensure accountability.
    • Ensure the development and consistent collection, analysis, and transparent sharing of key metrics and findings with communities, partners, and internal stakeholders to support data‑informed decision‑making.
  • Organizational Influence & Internal Partnership
    • Serve as a senior advisor and thought partner to internal teams as needed to integrate immigrant and community voice insights across all initiatives.
    • Provide strategic advice and insights on community trends, cultural responsiveness, and community partner engagement.
    • Support internal learning related to immigrant equity, systemic barriers, and global migration contexts.
  • Team Leadership & Capacity Building
    • Supervise employees, interns, and consultants supporting community partnership and immigrant engagement work.
    • Partner across the People Team to build organizational capacity by developing training, tools, and guidance on immigrant‑centered engagement practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrates an entrepreneurial mindset and the agility to work effectively in a dynamic organizational and external landscape, responding with emotional intelligence, steady judgment, and a consistent commitment to solution‑focused action.
  • Significant experience in community engagement, immigrant advocacy, multicultural and inclusive leadership, program strategy, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives and influence community partners, employees and contributors at all organizational levels.
  • Strong skills in relationship management, cross‑cultural communication, and community partnership building.
  • Proven experience in leading participatory processes, community‑driven design, and impact evaluation.
  • Strong ability to work within ambiguous, dynamic and entrepreneurial environments and see each new challenge as an opportunity for change; be comfortable with risk and failure as a natural part of long-term success.
  • Excellent communication skills across oral, written, and presentation formats with the ability to convey information with compassion and understanding.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive issues with emotional intelligence, discretion, and cultural humility.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and decision‑making skills with experience using qualitative and quantitative insights to shape strategy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in fast‑paced, evolving environments.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree or extensive community‑based leadership experience.
  • Experience developing equity‑centered programs within global organizations or social enterprises.
  • Knowledge of systemic, institutional, and structural barriers impacting immigrant communities—particularly in US, Canadian, and Indian contexts.
  • Proficient in French.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with Francophone and multilingual communities across global contexts.
