Role Description

The Underwriting Risk Audit Consultant will conduct real-time audit file examination processes for Underwriters at grades E5, E6, and E7. This includes audits of approved applications within our retention to ensure only those risks that adhere to Company standards are accepted, thereby preserving the integrity of mortality and overall pricing, and conducting Post Issue APS (PIA) file reviews.

• Identify risks not underwritten in compliance with company standards of underwriting. Report errors/infractions to VP, Underwriting Audit.
• Ascertain that all randomly selected approved cases are reviewed daily for compliance with Company standards of underwriting.
• Report to VP, Underwriting Audit any findings requiring further review or action by management.
• Communicate with Underwriting Management where file examination uncovers noncompliance with Company standards of underwriting.
• Document results of file examinations, identifying specific areas of noncompliance or deficient underwriting.
• Provide recommendations to Underwriting Audit/Management regarding potential weaknesses in underwriting training and deficiencies of individual underwriters.
• Provide quality control review to identify any administrative errors affecting the quality of the product delivered to the consumer.
• Perform ad hoc audits on individual underwriters as requested by Underwriting Management, and/or as directed by the Chief Underwriter or Chief Medical Director.
• Report to Underwriting Audit/Management any inconsistencies or deficiencies in the risk selection process identified during file examinations.
• Complete other assignments/functions as directed.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree preferred or applicable work experience
• Industry coursework (FALU, CLU, ChFC, LOMA)
• Minimum 8 years of individual life underwriting experience
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
• Working knowledge of underwriting and policy issue process
• Extensive experience with large case and impaired risk underwriting

Requirements

• The expected hiring compensation range for this position is $109,900 - $135,000 annually.
• This is a remote opportunity, operating on EST.
• The total compensation package may include other elements, such as a sign-on bonus, long-term incentives, and annual bonuses.
• This role is eligible to participate in the Annual Incentive Plan, with a current target payment of 20% of base salary, modified for corporate and individual performance.
• Bonuses are pro-rated based on start date.
• This role has 20 vacation days and 10 sick days accrued bi-weekly.
