Role Description

The Senior Specialist, Finance Technology combines strong financial accounting knowledge with practical Workday Financials expertise to take accountability for analysing Finance business needs and delivering defined system, process and reporting outcomes.

Working in partnership with the Senior Systems Manager, Head of Finance Continuous Improvement, Finance process owners and technical teams, the role supports the delivery of defined Workday Finance improvements from problem definition through to implementation and adoption, providing trusted functional advice within its area of expertise.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent relevant experience; a professional accounting qualification is desirable.
• Strong practical financial accounting experience, including general ledger, journals, accruals, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting and accounting controls.
• Demonstrated functional experience with Workday Financials and an understanding of how the platform supports Finance processes.
• Hands-on experience configuring Workday Financials, including business processes, condition rules, validations and security.
• Experience building and maintaining Workday reports, including calculated fields, prompts, filters, data sources and report security.
• Ability to understand business problems, identify root causes and translate Finance requirements into clear functional requirements and practical solution options.
• Experience working with Finance stakeholders, process owners and technical specialists to deliver system and process improvements.
• Experience preparing test scenarios, coordinating user acceptance testing and supporting implementation and adoption.
• Working knowledge of Finance data, integrations, reporting dependencies and system controls.
• Sound analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills, with the ability to resolve moderately complex issues and escalate matters outside the role's authority.
• Ability to manage assigned work with limited supervision, coordinate dependencies and deliver to agreed priorities and timeframes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across Finance and IT.
