Role Description
The Senior Manager, Tax Technology Implementations reports to the Director of Tax Technology and owns the technical implementation plan between the various domains and our indirect tax calculation service.

Deep understanding of the indirect Tax subject matter and serves as the technical partner to the engineering team.

Translates indirect tax requirements into actionable items for engineers.

Owns the consolidated plan that communicates the program's status to Tax and Engineering leadership.

Influences partner teams with a clear understanding of the problem and a trusted plan.

Responsible for the tax outcome of implementations, including requirements, design judgment, and technical decisions.

Requirements and design:

Author tax requirements and acceptance criteria for engineers.

Review design documents and provide feedback on scalability.

Scope and sequencing:

Define integration boundaries and own the critical path.
-
Monitor downstream impacts of team delays and provide options.

Roadmap influence:
-
Prioritize tax work on other teams' roadmaps and defend against bumps.

Launch and operational readiness:
-
Define testing, monitoring, and rollout criteria.
-
Ensure integrations are accompanied by runbooks and alerting.

Risk:

Own the risk register and escalate with recommendations.

Running the program:
-
Maintain the integrated plan as the source of truth.

Report status to senior leadership in a trusted format.

Qualifications

8+ years in a corporate tax department, public accounting, or technology consulting.

Global or multi-country indirect tax implementation experience.
-
Familiarity with non-US indirect tax regimes.

Hands-on experience implementing Marketplace Facilitator laws across jurisdictions.

Program or project management experience across multiple dependent engineering teams.

Direct engagement with engineering teams on product development.

Experience defining testing and monitoring strategies for critical systems.

Strong analytical skills, high organization, and attention to detail.

Comfort operating without formal authority in a collaborative environment.
