Role Description

The Senior Internal Auditor assists in performing and managing internal audit assignments throughout the company, working independently or under the supervision of Audit Management. The incumbent will work as part of an audit team to:

• Conduct audits, evaluate risks, test controls, and review processes related to financial data and systems.
• Assist with tracking of open audit findings and facilitate response generation.
• Gather information, test evidence, and escalate prior findings with Audit Management.
• Support less experienced staff and collaborate with management and third-party organizations.

Day In The Life:

• Perform internal risk assessments under the direction of SVP of Internal Audit.
• Plan internal audits by understanding organization objectives, structure, policies, processes, internal controls, and external regulations.
• Interpret regulations as they pertain to information systems and IT operating processes.
• Evaluate IT infrastructure, data flows/processes, and operating procedures.
• Identify key controls and control deficiencies through the development of risks and controls matrix.
• Create process documentation, including process narratives and flow charts.
• Create audit program and testing procedures at various levels.
• Assess risks and internal controls by identifying areas of non-compliance.
• Maintain open communication with management regarding audit progress and findings.
• Partner with internal clients to define action plans for deficiencies identified.
• Prepare and present reports that reflect audit results and document processes.
• Assist Audit Management in coordinating and scheduling audit meetings.
• Monitor management’s completion of agreed actions in the remediation process.
• Prepare and/or review Audit reports and manage revisions.
• Assist business owners in defining gaps or process deficiencies.
• Determine and recommend improvements during IT system changes or upgrades.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or related field required.
• Currently holds, or actively pursuing, an audit professional certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA).
• Five (5) years related work experience in auditing required.
• Two (2) years’ experience in another functional area preferred.
• Experience with payment systems and financial services related to the credit/debit card industry preferred.
