[Hiring] Senior Air Permitting Specialist @Sargent & Lundy

Role Description

This is a remote/virtual position. Candidate can be based anywhere within the United States.

Project teams in our Energy & Industrial Group (EIG) support industry-leading projects in:

• Power generation
• Plant design
• Environmental compliance
• Mid/downstream oil & gas
• Multi-disciplined industrial projects

As a member of Sargent & Lundy’s Environmental and Permitting team, you will:

• Apply your knowledge of the Clean Air Act and related regulations to develop practical permitting strategies.
• Work with project managers, engineers, clients, and regulatory agencies to define, evaluate, and implement air permitting requirements.
• Expand your technical and project-management capabilities while working with multi-disciplined project teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Interpreting and implementing federal, state, and local air quality requirements.
• Evaluating new projects and modifications for air permitting applicability.
• Working with project engineers and equipment vendors to identify emission units and control technologies.
• Developing air permit strategies, matrices, schedules, and applications.
• Preparing and reviewing technical support documents and emissions calculations.
• Interfacing with permitting agencies and supporting negotiations regarding permit conditions.
• Developing your air permitting career through peer learning and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• A BS in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; MS preferred.
• Four or more years of experience in air permitting, environmental compliance, or environmental consulting.
• Strong working knowledge of the Clean Air Act and air quality regulations.
• Demonstrated experience preparing, supporting, or reviewing air permit applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with project team members, clients, and regulatory agencies.
• Experience with Microsoft applications, including proficiency in Excel and Word.

Requirements

• Experience preparing or reviewing air dispersion modeling inputs and results.
• Experience coordinating technical inputs from various engineering disciplines.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and mentoring to associate staff members.
