Role Description

The Senior Director Revenue Cycle will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of revenue cycle strategies in professional billing, follow up, and denial management for the organization to optimize financial performance. The successful candidate will possess a combination of specialized technical expertise in the assigned department/s, strategic vision, and leadership skills to drive results. This position coordinates with the other RSC Senior Leadership team to ensure that all operational revenue management functions are aligned and optimized to meet or exceed patient requirements, maximize collections, and minimize cost to collect.

This position can be performed remotely with travel as needed. Intermountain Health maintains employment registration in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. Candidates in other locations may be considered. Currently, we are not hiring remote workers in the following states: CA, CT, HI, IL, NY, RI, VT, and WA.

Job Essentials

• Develop and implement revenue cycle strategies to improve financial performance.
• Create and manage annual operating budget.
• Conduct return on investment analyses on capital expenditures and identify various opportunities for savings and revenue growth.
• Analyze budget variances while implementing improvement initiatives.
• Identify and implement new technology or enhancements to existing technology to drive performance improvement, efficiency, and/or improve the patient experience.
• Lead quality and performance improvement initiatives.
• Establish mechanisms to design, measure, maintain, and improve the performance and quality of department/s services.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Develop action plans in line with the organization's strategic initiatives and goals.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve revenue cycle performance.
• Act as champion or business owner of external vendors that provide products and/or services to Revenue Cycle operations.
• Select and coordinate any third-party vendors within the assigned department/s.
• Monitor and analyze revenue cycle metrics to identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and implement financial goals and objectives.
• Manage and develop a team of revenue cycle professionals.

Qualifications

• Fifteen (15) years of progressive revenue cycle leadership experience.
• Ability to build strong partnerships across the organization such as Managed Care, Finance, ITDS, operations, and clinical leadership.
• Ability to lead teams in a large operational/healthcare/financial environment.
• Comprehensive understanding of hospital and clinic operations.
• Working knowledge of hospital and clinic finance and accounting, including patient accounting principles and operations.
• Extensive knowledge of the current healthcare/finance environment and trends, policies, and regulations.
• Advanced knowledge of information systems, vendor contracting, patient accounting processes, including billing, collections, and reimbursement analysis.
• Extensive knowledge of facilitating engagement related strategies to create high performing teams.
• Competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to complex business challenges.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.
• In-depth knowledge of Epic software systems.

With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience: $78.66 - $121.47.
