Role Description

Client is seeking a highly strategic and operationally-minded Senior Director of Finance to serve as the CFO and trusted business partner to the Chief Product & Technology Officer. This role will lead the finance organization supporting client's Digital, Product, Engineering, and Technology organizations, providing end-to-end financial leadership across a rapidly evolving portfolio of SaaS, cloud, platform, and network-enabled digital services.

The successful candidate will bring experience operating within a high-growth SaaS environment and possess a deep understanding of subscription economics, consumption-based business models, product investment strategies, and software development lifecycles.

Partnering directly with executive leadership, this leader will own the financial strategy, planning, forecasting, and performance management of the client Digital portfolio while leading a high-performing Product Finance organization.

This role serves as a key member of both the Finance and Product leadership teams and will influence decisions regarding growth investments, product strategy, resource allocation, capital prioritization, and long-range planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Executive Business Partnership:
  • Serve as the CFO and strategic finance partner to the Chief Product & Technology Officer and Product Leadership Team.
  • Translate business strategy into actionable financial plans and investment decisions.
  • Influence executive decision-making regarding growth investments, portfolio prioritization, organizational design, and capital allocation.
  • Provide thought leadership to senior executives, including the CEO, CFO, CTO, and Product Leadership Team.
  • Drive executive-level conversations around value creation, growth, profitability, and return on investment.
• Full P&L Ownership:
  • Lead financial management for the client Digital portfolio and broader Product & Technology organization.
  • Maintain ownership across the full financial envelope including:
    • Revenue
    • Gross Margin
    • Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
    • Operating Expense (OPEX)
    • Headcount Planning
    • Capital Expenditures (CAPEX)
    • Capitalized Labor
    • Software Development Investments
    • EBITDA
    • Free Cash Flow
  • Ensure alignment between investment decisions and long-term shareholder value creation.
• SaaS & Digital Business Leadership:
  • Act as the finance expert for SaaS, cloud, platform, and subscription-based business models.
  • Develop and govern SaaS financial metrics including:
    • ARR
    • MRR
    • Consumption Revenue
    • Gross Retention
    • Net Revenue Retention
    • Customer Acquisition Cost
    • Lifetime Value
    • Product Unit Economics
  • Assess product profitability and support pricing, packaging, and monetization decisions.
  • Build investment cases for new product launches, platform development, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
• Strategic Planning & Forecasting:
  • Lead annual planning, long-range planning, and monthly forecasting processes.
  • Develop financial scenarios tied to growth objectives, market opportunities, and product roadmaps.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Operations leaders to ensure plans are actionable and measurable.
  • Drive resource prioritization across competing investment opportunities.
• Product Finance Leadership:
  • Lead and develop the Product Finance organization supporting:
    • Client Digital
    • Product Management
    • Engineering
    • Technology
    • Strategic Product Investments
  • Establish a world-class finance function focused on strategic decision support rather than scorekeeping.
  • Build organizational capability in SaaS finance, product economics, forecasting, and investment analytics.
• Investment & Capital Governance:
  • Partner with Product and Technology leaders to evaluate investment opportunities and business cases.
  • Govern capitalized software development spending and technology capital investments.
  • Drive disciplined management of operating and capital expenditures.
  • Develop frameworks to measure post-investment performance and expected returns.
• Cross-Functional Leadership:

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive Finance, FP&A, Corporate Finance, Business Finance, or Product Finance leadership experience.
• Experience supporting SaaS, software, cloud, digital platform, or technology-driven businesses.
• Demonstrated ownership of a complex P&L.
• Experience managing senior finance teams and developing leaders.
• Significant exposure to executive leadership teams and Board-level discussions.
• Strong understanding of:
  • SaaS business models
  • Subscription and consumption economics
  • Product development lifecycles
  • Capitalized software development
  • Cost of delivery and hosting models
  • Revenue growth drivers

Requirements

• Experience serving as Finance Leader or CFO within:
  • SaaS startup
  • High-growth technology company
  • Cloud platform business
  • Enterprise software organization
• Experience supporting a Chief Product Officer, Chief Technology Officer, or Engineering organization.
• M&A, integration, or digital transformation experience.
• Telecommunications, cloud networking, AI infrastructure, or digital platform experience preferred.
