Role Description
The Seasonal Money Coach β Tax meets members during tax season when they feel most anxious about money, providing one-on-one coaching by phone and video. The role involves helping members understand their tax documents, filing requirements, deadlines, and how common tax rules apply to their situation.

Seasonal Money Coaches do:

Provide education on individual tax topics

Explain tax concepts and options in plain language

Help members understand their tax documents and related information

Help members identify practical next steps and appropriate resources

Seasonal Money Coaches do not:

Prepare, complete, review for accuracy, or file tax returns
-
Complete tax forms on a member's behalf

Represent members before the IRS or state taxing authorities
-
Provide services outside the approved scope of the coaching program
Key Responsibilities

Deliver one-on-one coaching by phone and video on common federal and state individual income tax topics, including:

W-2 and 1099 income

Self-employment and gig income
-
Tax withholding and estimated tax payments

Filing status and dependents
-
Common deductions and credits
-
Retirement plan and IRA tax considerations
-
Capital gains and losses
-
Education-related tax considerations
-
Homeownership and real estate tax topics

Tax implications of major life events
-
IRS notices and general options for addressing them
-
Translate tax terminology and processes into clear, practical language that fits each member's level of knowledge.

Help members identify the questions and information to gather before working with a tax preparer or other professional.

Keep accurate, timely notes for every coaching session.

Stay current on federal tax rules and significant tax-law changes affecting individuals.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of professional tax experience

Demonstrated knowledge of individual federal income tax matters

Experience explaining complex tax topics to people with limited tax knowledge

Strong verbal communication, active-listening, and interpersonal skills

Ability to educate while staying within established coaching and professional boundaries

Comfortable coaching by both phone and video

Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Strong computer skills and ability to work efficiently across multiple systems

Reliable high-speed internet and a professional remote-work environment
Preferred

CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential
Working Context

This is a fully remote, seasonal position, with availability required during peak tax season.

Coaching takes place one-on-one by phone and video.

No travel is required.
