Role Description

As our Payroll Accountant reporting to the Payroll Manager, you’ll help the finance team with the ongoing administration of Auvik’s payroll and accounting processes.

What will I be doing?

• Payroll Processing: Administer semi-monthly payroll for Canada and the U.S., as well as monthly payroll for international locations.
• Employee Support: Act as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related inquiries.
• Data Management: Maintain and update payroll, incentive, and equity system records.
• Reconciliations: Conduct routine payroll and benefits reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Payroll Administration: Support the Payroll Manager with all areas of payroll administration, including month-end processes, incentive calculations, stock option management, and common share administration.
• Accounting & Reporting: Perform daily payroll accounting tasks, including posting general ledger entries, calculating stock compensation expenses, and managing fixed asset amortization.
• Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations while assisting with cost analysis.
• Year-End Compliance: Assist with payroll year-end processes, including tax form preparation, reconciliation, and balancing.
• Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements to enhance payroll and accounting workflows.
• Audit Support: Assist with annual audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
• Ad Hoc Projects: Contribute to special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• A few years of Canadian payroll experience (U.S. and international payroll experience is a plus).
• Post-secondary degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in corporate accounting, ideally in a multi-entity environment.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll systems (Ceridian Dayforce preferred).
• Strong time management, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing.
• Capable of working independently and within cross-functional teams, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification or actively working toward it.

The hiring range for this position is listed below. Compensation offered for candidates in this role is based on a number of factors including job-related skills, knowledge, and experience. These factors may cause your compensation to vary within the range outlined below.

Salary Range: $60,000 — $78,000 CAD
