Role Description

The Mortgage Closer is responsible for reviewing loan packages, scheduling loan closings, and preparation of loan closing documents prior to loan funding.

• Manages pipeline of loans to ensure service standards and financial goals are met.
• Reviews files for accuracy, updates information on LOS as needed, and clears closing conditions.
• Prepares initial closing disclosure along with closing package.
• Ensures loans are in accordance with federal and state regulations such as RESPA, HMDA, and Fair Lending Practices.
• Prepares, balances, and emails final closing disclosure to title company.
• Communicates with title company on final documents and ensures docs are delivered in a timely manner for scheduled loan closing.
• Balances final figures with title and orders wire from wire desk.
• Effectively communicates with team members as well as outside entities to facilitate a prompt, efficient closing of each loan.
• Reads and resolves any loan compliance issues during closing/funding process.
• Responds to and resolves any post-closing/audit findings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years loan closing/funding experience in residential mortgage.
• Working knowledge of RESPA disclosures, FHA, VA, FNMA, and FHLMC guidelines along with title commitments, hazard and flood insurance policies.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrates a commitment to quality customer service.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Well organized with the ability to multi-task.
• Demonstrates strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Works well with others.
• Proficient in all compliance-related regulations including RESPA.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Strong PC skills (MS Office products) and experience with mortgage origination systems.
• Working knowledge of Encompass preferred.

• Work is typically performed in a standard office environment.
