Role Description
The Director, Transaction Tax Data Center Team serves as a strategic advisor to clients on transaction tax and credits & incentives (C&I) matters related to data center investments, operations, and expansion projects. This role leads client engagements, provides technical guidance on tax policy and incentive compliance, manages audit defense efforts, and supports operational startup activities. The Director also develops team members, contributes to business growth, and represents the organization through industry speaking engagements and thought leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead transaction tax and credits & incentives engagements for data center clients.

Conduct and oversee tax policy analysis, technical research, and strategic recommendations.

Manage incentive negotiation, implementation, compliance, reporting, and benefit realization.

Serve as the primary lead for audit defense and agency inquiries related to tax and incentive matters.

Support operational startup and expansion initiatives, ensuring tax and incentive requirements are effectively implemented.

Manage, mentor, and develop a team of direct reports.

Build and maintain strong client, industry, and economic development relationships.

Contribute to business development efforts, proposal support, and practice growth.

Represent the organization at industry conferences, panels, webinars, and speaking engagements.

Monitor legislative and industry developments affecting data center tax and incentive programs.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Taxation, or a related field.

CPA, JD, CMI, or other relevant professional credential preferred.

8-10 years of experience supporting data center projects through consulting, industry, or a combination of both.

Extensive experience in transaction tax and credits & incentives programs.

Knowledge in supporting large-scale data center development or expansion projects.

Demonstrated expertise in tax policy analysis, incentive compliance, and audit defense.

Experience leading complex client engagements and managing multiple priorities.

Proven ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.

Experience in managing and developing professional staff.

Strong communication, presentation, and client relationship management skills.

Willingness to travel and participate in industry speaking opportunities.
Requirements

Work Schedule: Regular, 40 hours/week.
