Role Description

At Peregrine Advisors, you will lead data governance for a federal agency, built on Microsoft Purview, and set the policies and standards that decide how its data is managed. But we hire people, not seats. As the work evolves, you will move to where the hardest problems are.

Your first project puts you in charge of the agency's governance program, working with business and technical teams. Depending on the assignment, you may:

• Plan and lead data governance initiatives across the organization.
• Configure and administer Microsoft Purview for data cataloging, discovery, classification, and governance.
• Develop and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
• Oversee the data catalog, business glossary, data classification, and data lineage.
• Work with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and business and technical teams to strengthen data quality and governance practice.
• Set up the processes that make data ownership, stewardship, and accountability real.
• Make data discoverable and understandable across cloud and on-premises sources.
• Track governance adoption and find where it can improve.
• Lead workshops and governance discussions with business stakeholders, and guide teams on governance practice.
• Create and maintain the documentation, governance frameworks, and process guidelines that keep the program running.

You leave the agency with governance that people use: a catalog they trust, owners who know what they own, and standards that hold when the data changes.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of data governance or data management experience
• Bachelor's degree
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview
• Solid understanding of data governance and data management principles
• Experience with data catalogs, data classification, data lineage, and business glossaries
• Experience working with Data Owners and Data Stewards
• Knowledge of data quality, metadata management, and data security concepts
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to lead data governance initiatives independently
• Proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel
• United States citizenship; dual citizenship and green card holders are prohibited by the contract terms
• The ability to satisfy the required suitability, security, and access requirements

Requirements

• Experience with Microsoft Azure data services (preferred)
