[Hiring] Business Operations Generalist, Finance & Accounting @Wonderly

Role Description

We’re hiring someone to own the financial and business operations behind Wonderly.

Accounting is roughly a third of the role. You’ll make sure vendors get paid correctly, coordinate month-end close with our external accountants, and keep tax requirements and financial systems organized. The rest spans contracts, procurement, insurance, equity administration, and the operational problems that come with a growing company.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Accounting operations: Validate invoices, collect vendor documentation, coordinate approvals, and schedule payments.
• Month-end close: Keep close notes, provide supporting information to our accountants, investigate discrepancies, and flag unusual transactions.
• Tax coordination: Keep filings, registrations, notices, and year-end reporting moving with our external providers.
• Financial systems: Maintain tools such as Stripe, Subscript, Hubifi, and QuickBooks as the business changes.
• Contracts and procurement: Coordinate agreements with business owners and counsel, negotiate vendor terms, and track commitments and renewals.
• Corporate operations: Manage insurance renewals, routine equity administration, corporate records, registrations, and incoming notices.
• Process improvement: Document recurring work, establish clear owners and deadlines, and work with our internal team to automate repetitive tasks.

You’ll have recurring responsibilities and unexpected problems. You’re accountable for closing the loop on both.

Qualifications

• Accounting or finance operations at a fast-growing startup.
• Public accounting with hands-on exposure to startup clients.
• Business operations roles with meaningful accounting responsibilities.
• A broad operational role where you owned payments, contracts, compliance coordination, or financial systems.

Requirements

• You understand invoices, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• You’re meticulous with money, records, and deadlines.
• You investigate discrepancies and bring back answers.
• You keep work moving when several people or outside providers are involved.
• You know when to make a decision and when to involve a specialist.
• You’re comfortable learning unfamiliar systems and handling ambiguous problems.
• You want to use your accounting foundation across a broader business role.
• Strong spreadsheet skills are expected. Experience with QuickBooks, Stripe, Brex, Carta, or similar tools is useful.

Expectations

• 60–70 hour weeks.
• Take ownership of meaningful recurring responsibilities within your first few weeks.
• Keep payments, filings, renewals, and other obligations organized and on schedule.
• Give our external accountants and other specialists complete information and timely answers.
• Raise problems early, with enough context to make a decision.
• Handle confidential financial, employee, and company information carefully.
• Use data, AI tools, and automation to make your work more reliable and less manual.
• Be hands-on. Sometimes the job is improving a system; sometimes it’s calling a vendor and getting an issue resolved.
• Expect your scope to evolve as the company grows.

Compensation

$100,000–$170,000 total compensation (base + equity), depending on experience.

Remote in the US or Canada, with regular in-person gatherings.
